Apply for a Scholarship
A. Purpose
The purpose of the NFJG Scholarship Program is to encourage and promote the attainment of high education goals for Foundation members who have demonstrated
a high level of academic achievement during school or college.
B. Eligibility
Applicants for the NFJG Scholarship Program must be 2008 members (or past members currently in college) of the NFJG. The involvement or achievement in the Foundation tournament program is not part of the selection criteria.
Applicants must have completed (or plan to complete) high school prior to August 1, 2008 and must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) as a full time student. A full time student is defined as one who is taking 12 or more hours in a course of study leading to a traditional associate (2 year) or baccalaureate (4 year) degree at an accredited college or university located within the United States, or considered a full-time student by his/her respective institution
C. Scholarships
The NFJG Scholarship Program is designed to award one-year and four-year scholarships. The 2008
awards are:
Foundation Awards ($2,500)
- Buster Reed Memorial Award

Foundation Awards ($8,000)**
**The Foundation Four-Year Awards are renewed annually for four consecutive years. Total award amount is listed above.

D. Selection of Winners
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the following competitive basis by using a combination of criteria on class level:
- Academic Performance – includes high school/college grades, G.P.A. and/or ACT/SAT scores.
- Financial Need
- Extracurricular Activities
- Your Personal Statement
Extracurricular activities and “Your Personal Statement” will help the Committee further evaluate the candidate’s interests and abilities. Contributions to the community may be demonstrated by involvement in local clubs and organizations/associations. Extracurricular activities should be documented by type and years involved.
E. Announcement of Winners
Successful applicants will be announced Wednesday, July 16 at the Tournament of Champions Dinner.
